Public Speaking Contest

Open for 7th and 8th graders

The Soil & Water Conservation public speaking contest is open for 7th and 8th  graders in Davie County Schools and Homeschools. Students are able to hone in and present their oration skills with this contest. The speech must be between 4 and 6 minutes in length, with no visual aids or personal identifiers. It will be based on a specific conservation/environmental/agricultural theme selected for the year.
2024 - 2025 school year theme: Wetlands Are Wonderful

 

There are multiple levels to this contest: 

  1. School-Level: The top student from each grade level (7 and 8) from each school (as selected by teachers/school) to be entered into District (county) contest.

  2. District (Davie County) Level: Top 2 students' speeches (1 from 7th, 1 from 8th) selected from the county to be entered into the Area 8 contest.

  3. Area 8 Level: Top students' speeches selected from the Area to be entered into the State (NC) contest.
